October has been busy!

We have had some fun this month!
Lots of painting, good eating, and even some completed paintings!
We also have had some changes...members leaving us because they just don't have the time to participate and new members who are excited to start their painting adventure.

Dottie is battling Cancer and is still up north...she has given up her active spot in the group but is still a Codger and will join us when she is feeling up to it! Our hearts are with you sweet lady!

Luisa was traveling this fall so just couldn't get started with us...best wishes for her as she spends time with her Dad and continues to do such a great job as Newcomers Historian.

Ruth Lee has decided to spend her Fridays doing volunteer work so we will miss her smiling face!
She did complete her painting of the view from her balcony and it is beautiful!!!

Our newest members are Pat Molloy and Pam Clune.
Pat will be joining us mid-November but
Pam has been here two weeks and is making great progress on her beach scene.
Welcome!

Deb's painting is also complete and ready to be framed....we have loved
watching the progress she has made.
Here are the last three weeks....that tree is just beautiful!

Bonnie's fences and grasses have become more defined and beautiful each week.
HER CLOUDS are amazing...we must find that "you tube" video she watched!

It took Jacque some time before she decided on the composition but now she is moving along.
It will be fun to see what she adds next week!

Helen has been obsessed with "unidentified" flying objects but now has decided to add
some indigenous birds to her sky...stay tuned!
The little sandpipers are adorable!  Nice job!

You all are amazing...
Thank you so much for sharing your Friday Mornings with the group.

One other piece of news that happened in October....my painting,
Tranquil Tempest
was accepted into the juried show at the
Marco Island Center for the Arts.
I cannot Thank You enough for the love and support you gave me....
Your words of encouragement were the reason I had the courage to enter.
I love being a CODGER!

Catching UP! Covering the 20th and 27th of September.....

What a quick end to last month...BUSY!!!

I believe all of us traveled somewhere and you were all so kind to be flexible as we shifted around times and days.

I believe we are all back now (except Helen will miss this week as the "little princess" in Atlanta turns a year old!)  Luisa is back in the State of Florida so maybe here in a few weeks?  Dottie is hopefully still on track to be here mid October...although the grapevine says she is ill so we send our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

A reminder that we have changed some things up this week...we are meeting on Thursday between 9 & 9:45 to chat and eat something yummy from Bonnie, then you are all going to hold my hand as we go to the Center for the Arts and submit my latest painting for consideration in the October Juried show, Sunrise~Sunset.  This will be the very first time I have gotten up the nerve to enter one of my works and it is because of you....Thank you!

Then we will head over to Becca Scarborough's house and pitch in to help at the parade workshop.

Here are the works from last week... (thanks Deb for the goodies...love those chocolate dough-nuts!)

AND from the week before:

I just love seeing the progress you are all making!

I am continually amazed!

You Codgers are something else!  The talent is just "oozing" out.....as is the excitement as you realize you can actually do this...YAY!

We missed Deb...hope your trip is going good.

Helen stopped in at the end of the session to eat a bite of Ruth Lee's Yummy energy bars and to see everyone's progress.  (Look on the side bar for a new entry area for special recipes!)

We are having so much fun!

The paintings are really starting to POP!

Deb added her palm tree (which looks spectacular!), and a lesson was given about how to determine where shadows go...reminiscent of elementary school...complete with flashlight!

Bonnie's beach has come alive and Jacque is experimenting with grasses using a script brush.  Ruth Lee's view from her balcony is coming along...who knew you could make trees using a sponge! What is that old saying about "smoke and mirrors"? HA!

Next week we will meet on THURSDAY again.....you guys are the best for being so flexible.  Ruth Lee will be bringing the goodies...YUM!

Making progress!

The beach scenes are looking fantastic!

Bonnie and Deb kept working on their paintings today while Ruth Lee got started on hers.

We sure did miss Jacque and Helen but we know they are happy to be visiting their families and we can't blame them for that!

Thanks to Bonnie for the goodies....TRADER JOE's gingersnaps! (plus coffee cake and fruit..YUM!)

Stay tuned for where we will be next week...thinking of heading over to Deb's!
